Athens will be without taxis starting from this morning, Wednesday November 21, on account of a strike organized by the Attica Taxi Drivers Syndicate. The strike will last for 24 hours and conclude on Thursday at 6 in the morning.
The strike was announced last week to call attention to the requests of drivers which include but are not limited to their demand that the government withdraws its latest tax bill and that a tax exemption limit of 12,000 euros is established.
The announcement of the strike by the syndicate refers to the latest tax bill proposed by Greek Minster of Finance Kostas Hatzidakis which targets the self-employed and freelancers. The note that the latest bill will most certainly lead to unemployment of thousands of workers from many sectors and of course to taxi drivers themselves.
