Subtropical Winds Bring More Hot Weather to Greece this Week

Temperatures in Greece are on the rise, again, thanks to southerlies that will blow hot air from Africa to the continent.

Hopefully you haven’t put your bathing suit away for the season because temperatures are one the rise -again- in Greece, thanks to subtropical winds blowing up from the south.

The hottest days this week are Friday and Saturday, 27-28 September, according to an article at To Vima, with temperatures expected to come in between 32 to 33 degrees in Thessaly, Fthiotida, Boeotia, the Dodecanese islands and central Macedonia.

Meanwhile, the Attica region will be over 31 degrees, as will the Peloponnese, Evia and the eastern Aegean.

From Sunday, however, temperatures will drop, returning to seasonal norms.

According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), today’s forecast includes local rains in the Ionian, Epirus and Sterea with potential storms in the Ionian. The rest of the country will be cloudy.

Winds will blow from the south between 3-4 Beaufort but from the north over the Aegean. Temperatures will start their climb, reaching 27-29 degrees Celsius in most areas, and as high as 30 degrees on the mainland.
