Meteorologists are predicting extreme cold temperatures and snowfall, even in Attica, due to Storm Coral. Weather conditions, characterized by snowfall and ice that began on Thursday, are expected to worsen further. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), snow is also expected in northern and northeastern Attica (at elevations of 300m), particularly in Parnitha (foothills), Penteli, and Dionysos (and northward) on Friday and Saturday.
Snow-Covered Settlements and Closed Schools in Evia
Continuous snowfall has been recorded in the mountainous areas of Evia since Thursday. Settlements above 400 meters are blanketed in snow. Municipal authorities have deployed snowplows, while residents in the most affected areas stocked up on salt bags two days ago to prevent ice formation, which poses the greatest risk during nighttime.
Due to severe weather conditions, schools in the municipalities of Dirfys-Messapia and Mantoudi-Limni-Agia Anna will remain closed on Friday.

On Friday and Saturday, light snowfall is expected in northern and northeastern Attica (at 300m), particularly in Parnitha (foothills), Penteli, Dionysos (and further north), and Hippocratic State. Winds will be easterly at 4-5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 Beaufort in the west. In the east, northerly winds at 4-6 Beaufort will prevail, reaching 7-8 Beaufort in the Aegean and southern areas. Temperatures will drop slightly and remain below seasonal averages. Maximum temperatures will be 5-7°C in the north, 7-9°C in central areas, 10-12°C in the west (locally 13°C), and 9-12°C in the southern islands. Frost is expected in central and northern inland areas during morning and evening hours.

Temperatures will range from -3°C to 7°C, with Western Macedonia experiencing 3-4 degrees lower temperatures.
Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, and Western Peloponnese
Partly cloudy skies, occasionally increasing in coverage. Winds will be easterly at 3-5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort in the gulf of Patras. Temperatures will range from 4°C to 13°C, with lower temperatures (3-5°C) in Epirus’ inland areas.
