Ships will be docked at several ports in mainland Greece as authorities have enforced a sailing ban due to gale force winds sweeping across the Aegean Sea.

According to the Greek Meteorological Service, winds are reaching speeds of 8 Beaufort, with gusts up to 10 Beaufort in some regions.

The ferry routes from the port of Agia Marina at the island of Aegina, to Nea Stira in Evia island and from Arkitsa, located in the region of Fthiotida in Central Greece to Aedipsos northeast of Evia are also closed. However, services from Volos to the Sporades will resume after 10 AM.

The Port Authority has reported that no morning ferries departed from Piraeus port, although the routes in the Saronic Gulf are operating as usual.

From the port of Rafina, there’s an ongoing ban on departures to the Cyclades and Marmari, and no ferries will be allowed to leave from Lavrio port.

The line from Kavala to Prinos on Thasos is shut down, but the ferry from Keramoti in Kavala to Limenas on Thasos is running normally.

Travelers planning to journey today are advised to check with local port authorities and travel agencies for any changes or adjustments to ferry schedules due to adverse weather conditions.
