The Greek meteorological services issued a severe weather warning according to which the weather is forecast to deteriorate from Monday afternoon (04-03-24) until Tuesday noon (05-03-2024).
The main features of the bad weather are heavy rain and storms, accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and possibly hailstorms. Specifically, strong phenomena are forecast to affect the following regions:
On Monday (04-03-24)
The weather warning for Monday will affect:
a. From the afternoon until late at night in the Ionian islands, Epirus, western Central Greece, and possibly western Peloponnese will experience extreme weather phenomena.
b. From the evening the phenomena will expand to western and central, and at night in eastern Macedonia.
On Tuesday (05-03-2024)
For Tuesday, the weather is forecast to influence:
a. The region of Macedonia until noon.
b. From the early morning until noon in Thrace and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean.
According to the forecast data of Meteo.gr/HNMS, Hellenic National Meteorological Service, the main features of the weather for the two days will be rain and storms – with locally intense phenomena – snow mainly in the continental mountains and enhanced winds (southern on Monday 04/03 and western on Tuesday 05/03).
