Second Bad Weather Front to Hit Greece Wednesday

The weather will remain volatile, with successive and short-lived storms predicted to impact the country intermittently until December 15.

A second bout of bad weather is set to hit Greece on Wednesday, with heavy rain expected to spread across western Greece.

Showers will begin in the Ionian Islands during the morning and gradually extend to coastal areas of Epirus, western mainland, and the Peloponnese. Elsewhere in the mainland, excluding Thrace, overcast skies will dominate, accompanied by light scattered showers throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Aegean Islands will enjoy longer intervals of sunshine, though Crete will see a mix of clouds and occasional local showers.

Temperatures will remain consistent with recent days, peaking at 10–13°C in the northern regions, 15–17°C in western, central, and southern mainland areas, and around 18°C in the southern Aegean, including Crete, Rhodes, and Kastellorizo.

In Athens, the day will start with periods of sunshine, but clouds will increase by midday, with a slight chance of drizzle in the northern and eastern parts of the region. Temperatures will range from 9–16°C, with light easterly winds blowing at 3–4 Beaufort.

Thessaloniki should expect a gloomy day, with thick cloud cover and light rain throughout. Temperatures will range from 8–12°C, with mild easterly winds at 2–4 Beaufort.

The new wave of unsettled weather is anticipated to officially settle in on Thursday, bringing thunderstorms to mainland Greece and rainfall in Athens, particularly from Thursday night through midday Friday.

The weather will remain volatile, with successive and short-lived storms predicted to impact the country intermittently until December 15.
