Two teenagers suffered minor knife injuries in the latest incident of school violence in Greece that occurred outside a vocational high school (EPAL) at Lavrion, a town located in the southeastern part of Attica.

According to reports, the incident took place when two groups of about 30 youths met up outside the school to settle a dispute. The verbal altercation quickly escalated into physical violence, which resulted in the stabbing of the two teenagers.

As the police say, one of the youths involved in the fight, a 16-year-old who is wanted, allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the two victims in the thigh.

The two injured teenagers were transported to the Lavrion hospital with minor injuries and received first aid.

Police officers rushed to the scene, and so far, 13 individuals have been taken into custody for questioning.

Last week, a violent attack against a 14-year-old girl, who was brutally beaten by a group of peers in the upscale southern Athens district of Glyfada, dominated the media headlines in Greece.

Video footage released showed several of the juvenile offenders attempting to strip off her clothes as she lay hapless in the street after falling from the blows.

Juvenile crime and school violence in Greece rose by 48% in the first eight months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, according to a report by To Vima.gr.
