A jewelry shop in downtown Athens was robbed in the early hours of Saturday, local media report.
According to the police, unknown perpetrators broke in from an abandoned building adjacent to the shop.
It was reported that the perpetrators carried out the heist in a tunnel style.
The thieves managed to get away with items worth around 200,000 Euros, the police said.
The owners of the shop expressed their despair in a post on social media. They wrote that their establishment was a small, self-financed business that worked with low-profit margins but ended on an optimistic note: “We’ll get through this. We have no idea how, but we will manage.”
Police are investigating the incident.
