The Greek Ministry of Finance is granting a two-month extension until February 29 for the payment of road tax fees, with related official announcements expected to be made before Christmas.
The decision was communicated by the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis, to provide relief to households facing financial challenges due to the cost of living.
Payment Procedure:
Vehicle owners can pay road circulation fees through the myCar platform of AADE (Independent Authority for Public Revenue) using three methods:
Firstly, by printing the notification and then:
Visiting an automatic transaction machine and scanning the QR code on their notification, following the instructions on the screen.
Logging into their bank’s application (e-banking) and paying using the 23-digit RF code indicated on the notification.
Visiting a bank or ELTA (Greek Post) branch and paying at the counter by presenting the notification.
The fine for overdue payment is as follows:
An equal fine to the amount of the fees for motorcycles or three-wheelers, passenger cars, or light-duty vehicles.
A fine equal to 50% of the fees for passenger trucks.
Zero fine if the road tax fees are less than 30 euros.
The road tax fees owed by the owner of each vehicle are calculated based on the vehicle’s first registration date and its cylinder capacity or carbon dioxide emissions.
