Road Closures Today in Attica Due to Inclement Weather

As of last night it is mandatory for cars traveling on the roads to have snow chains/blankets with them

Several roads in the Attica region will remain closed today due to inclement weather.

On account of the bad weather and concerns about snow and ice, the Greek government reminded citizens traveling by car that they are required to carry snow chains or snow blankets in the car with them, unless the car has special tires.

In detail, the roads that will remain closed today are:

  • Dionysos avenue from the 414 hospital to Agios Petros, going in both directions
  • Parnitha avenue from the 22nd km (funicular), in both directions, in the municipality of Acharnes.  The restriction is valid regardless of the use of snow chains on account of ice
  • Old national road Elefsina-Thiva from the 5,000th km (approximately by the Revoil gas station), in both directions, until the 3,000th km. The restriction is temporary and applies to all heavy vehicles with a maximum weight of 3.5 tons.
  • Fylis avenue in both directions from the Dormition monastery towards Derbenochoria
