Road Closures and Detours in Central Athens Today for ‘Greece Race for the Cure 2024’

The Traffic Police urge drivers to be especially cautious when passing through these areas to avoid accidents

Temporary traffic regulations are in effect today in the center of Athens due to the 16th “Greece Race for the Cure 2024” run and walk, aimed at raising awareness against breast cancer.

There will be a gradual closure of the two right lanes on Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, from Souri Street to Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, starting at 22:00 on Saturday.

A full closure of both directions of traffic on Vasilissis Amalias Avenue will be enforced from 06:45 to 13:00 on Sunday, September 29.

Gradual closure of vehicle traffic on Sunday, from 06:45 to 13:00, as follows:

• Syngrou Avenue, from Athanasiou Diakou Street to Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, in the direction towards Syntagma Square.
• Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, along its entire length and the side streets up to the first parallel road.
• Athanasiou Diakou Street, along its entire length in the direction towards Syngrou Avenue.

Gradual closure of vehicle traffic on Sunday, from 08:30 to 13:00, as follows:

• Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, from Vasilissis Amalias Avenue to Zacharof Street, in both directions and the side streets up to the first parallel road.
• Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue, along its entire length, in the direction towards Ardittou Street, and the side streets up to the first parallel road.

The crossing of vehicles along the route of the event will be prohibited during the times when sections are closed to traffic, except at the following controlled intersections:

• Vasilissis Sofias Avenue – Rigillis
• Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue – Vasileos Georgiou II

The Traffic Police urge drivers to be especially cautious when passing through these areas to avoid accidents, and to follow the road signs and instructions from traffic officers.
