Three people have reportedly drowned after a boat carrying migrants capsized near the Parpanta Kardamylos area in north-northeastern Chios, 27 kilometers from the capital of the island in the northern Aegean on Wednesday morning.
A search and rescue operation (SAR) is underway off the coast of the Greek island with vessels from the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Greek Navy coordinating efforts to locate any missing persons.
According to initial reports, three people have been confirmed dead, while the exact number of passengers aboard the vessel has yet to be determined.
As of yet, 14 individuals have been rescued, including 2 men, 4 women, and 8 minors.
