A 56-year-old man who was taken into custody on Sunday for allegedly raping his partner’s underage daughter for at least seven years appeared before a relevant prosecutor on Monday for an initial statement.
The suspect is also accused of blackmailing the underage girl, who is now 15 years old, with indecent photos, by threatening to publish the material online.
According to police reports and testimony, the last time the alleged perpetrator sexually abused the young girl was some 10 days ago, at which point the latter confessed to her mother.
The mother and her daughter appeared before authorities a week ago and in the presence of a child psychologist, the alleged rape victim provided testimony of felonious actions on the part of the suspect.
According to reports, the girl’s mother stumbled upon her daughter’s photos on the perpetrator’s smartphone and reported him to police.
The 15-year-old told police officers that the alleged perpetrator sent her vulgar messages on her phone as well as naked photos of himself. He also asked her to send him photos of herself with indecent content.
During a search of the suspect’s resident in the Kato Patissia district of central Athens, police discovered and seized digital evidence, which was taken for forensic analysis to a CSI laboratory, as well as an air gun.
