A handful of individuals broke off from a larger group of pro-Palestine protestors in central Athens on Tuesday night and attacked a hotel where several Israeli tourists were staying, according to media reports a day later and after repeated exposure on social media.
The small group participated in a larger pro-Gaza protest held earlier in central Athens on Tuesday evening.
The moment of the attack was captured in a video posted on X by the account “The Jewish Voice”. As seen in the video, police managed to disperse the unknown suspects.
According to police sources, the group that carried out the attack caused damage to the entrance of the hotel located in the Omonia square district. However, the same sources said the group of protesters did not attempt to enter the building. Social media accounts report glass fronts being broken at the hotel.
