Police Discover Body Possibly Belonging to Missing 31-year-old Man

Initial reports cite a positive match due to the clothes found on the body, reportedly matching clothing worn by the missing man on the day he disappeared

A body believed to belong a man, 31, missing for roughly two weeks was discovered by authorities on Monday in a swampy site near the village of Evinochori, in western Greece’s Aetoloakarnania prefecture.

Initial reports cite a positive match due to the clothes found on the body, reportedly matching clothing worn by Babbis Koutsikos on the day he disappeared.

The body was detected by a cadaver dog. A coroner was heading to the scene at press time.

A 50-year-old man has already been detained on suspicion of wrong-doing in the case. He was moved to the larger city of Missolonghi over the weekend to avoid possible incidents by friends and family of the missing 31-year-old.

Both the missing man and the detained suspect, a butcher, are residents of the same town.
