Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis briefed the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, in a private meeting at the Presidential Mansion in Athens on Wednesday as part of his monthly meetings with the country’s head of state.
One of the topics broached during the meeting, as part of the steps taken to combat school bullying and in response to the President’s comment on the issue, was the government’s initiative to introduce school lockers, following a relevant instruction that banned the use of mobile phones in classrooms.
The practice of school lockers has been in effect in most Western countries for several decades.
The Greek Premier said the government was considering a pilot program modeled on private schools, where special lockers will be provided for students to lock away their phones until the end of the school day.
Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis also referred to the full set of announcements he made at the Thessaloniki International Fair, placing particular emphasis on the housing crisis, afternoon surgeries, and the introduction of the digital world into education. The Greek PM also commented on the portfolio assumed by Apostolos Tzitzikostas at the European Commission, highlighting it as a very important development, recognizing the position and role of Greece.
