Passport Loss Declaration Goes Digital: Now Available via gov.gr

Upon completion of the process, citizens are notified via email and SMS. Additionally, the declaration is sent to the citizen's personal Mailbox on gov.gr and carries the authentication features of gov.gr.

Citizens will be able to report the loss of their passports through the gov.gr platform, following a Joint Ministerial Decision by the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrisochoidis, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, and Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis, as of today.

As indicated in the relevant announcement, through a particularly simple procedure, citizens can electronically submit their declaration without the need to visit the Police Department or the Consular Authority in the territorial jurisdiction where the loss occurred.

The procedure for submitting the declaration is the following:

• Citizens log in with their personal access codes to TaxisNet or e-Banking codes.

• They confirm their details and passport information within the application and submit the declaration.

• Upon submission, the declaration is electronically sent to the Passport and Document Security Directorate’s Mailbox of the Hellenic Police, which immediately invalidates the passport.

• The declaration is simultaneously forwarded to the Mailbox of the Police Department or Consular Authority in the territorial jurisdiction where the loss occurred.

Upon completion of the process, citizens are notified via email and SMS. Additionally, the declaration is sent to the citizen’s personal Mailbox on gov.gr and carries the authentication features of gov.gr.
