Orthodox Holy Saturday Today; Shop Opening Hours in Greece

In observance of Easter Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (due to the overlap with May Day), stores will be closed.

Today, Saturday May 4, marks Orthodox Saturday in Greece and the festive store hours continue to accommodate consumers preparing for their Easter celebrations.

Stores will commence operations at 9 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. nationwide, with department stores extending their hours until 8 p.m.

Local markets will maintain their regular schedules, with Athens’ central Varvakeios Market continuing business until 6 p.m.

In observance of Easter Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (due to the overlap with May Day), stores will be closed.

Virtually all establishments will remain closed on Easter Sunday and Renewal Monday, the day following Easter.

Additionally, many businesses, alongside the broader public sector, may observe closures on Tuesday due to the rescheduling of Labor Day, which coincides with Holy Wednesday in the Orthodox Holy Week this year.
