Cleanup and dredging works in and around Lake Pamvotida, along whose banks lies the medieval city of Ioannina in mountainous northwest Greece, have turned up items ranging from WWII-era Wehrmacht helmets to an Ottoman grenade.

According to local media outlet epiruspost, professional divers have recovered cash registers, horse wagons, numerous car plates, chairs and discarded ordnance dated to various military conflicts over the past century.

In an effort to raise public awareness over the need to keep the iconic lake clean, the Protected Areas Management Authority overseeing the cleanup effort displayed many of the finds in a central square. Other objects recovered and displayed include motorcycles, bicycles, light fixtures and all types of metals.

The overall cleanup effort includes some 105,000 square meters of lakeside areas.
