One Man Reportedly Killed in Central Athens Explosion

Reports suggest one man was killed in downtown Athens after an explosion rocked an apartment on Thursday afternoon.

The large blast occurred on the third floor of an apartment building located in Ampelokipoi, a central district of the Greek capital. One woman has reportedly suffered injuries.

The first respondents include 9 firefighters and 3 vehicles. They are currently trying to extract the body of the victim, and the injured woman.

According to reports, the explosion destroyed one of the apartment walls, while a forensic unit of the fire department is in the process of collecting information to determine the cause of the blast.
