One of Greece’s best-known and most controversial defense attorneys, Alexis Kougias, on Monday remained intubated and in serious condition in an Athens-area hospital, after his health deteriorated. Kougias has been battling lymph node cancer and previously undergone an operation.
Kougias himself revealed details of his medical condition last month, after speculation and concerns emerged in the wake of his public appearances.
In a social media post on Monday, his two children called for the media and public to respect their father’s privacy at such a crucial period.
“We expect, even now amid these difficult hours, for you to show respect for father’s family and loved ones,” the post read.
