New video footage emerged this week showing BBC presenter and physician Michael Mosley walking downward along rugged terrain on the small Dodecanese island of Symi before he collapsed and eventually died on the spot.
The video was shown on the Mega Channel program “Live News”, following a revelation by the Athens daily “To Nea”.
The grainy CCTV video, showing images at some 200 meters away, was taken by the security cameras of a hotel at the remote Aghia Marina beach.
Dr. Mosley is seen walking a mere 50 meters over 20 minutes, visibly exhausted from the rough terrain and high temperatures that were reported on the day he went missing – last Wednesday. His body was found on Sunday, in a state of decomposition.
Towards the end of the footage, Mosley is shown collapsed on a rocky incline, some 10 meters from the water’s edge and near a fence of the resort compound.
Authorities scrutinized the video footage from around the specific hotel unit after his body was located, due to a very observant television cameraman from Greece’s state broadcaster (ERT). The latter noticed something unusual in footage he shot from a boat off the specific shoreline. The unusual object turned out to be Dr. Mosley’s body.
An initial cause of death has been attributed to natural causes, as no injuries were found. A toxicology report is pending.
