Driver ran 10 red lights as he fled on a motorcycle whose license plates had been returned to the tax bureau

A motorcyclist that, according to police, ran 10 red lights on Wednesday evening in southern coastal Athens in a bid to outrun police was handed down total fines exceeding 21,000 euros.

Police first motioned for the rider to stop for a traffic check after spotting his motorcycle without plates.

He was also imposed fines for excessive speed, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and making an illegal U-turn.

The man, 36 was later arrested more than 60 kilometers away from the Vouliagmeni coastal district, where the incident began, in the east Attica prefecture town of Megara.
