A 37-year-old woman in north-central Greece was charged with intentional homicide on Wednesday in the death of her six-month-old baby boy.
The woman has been arrested and will appear before an investigating magistrate on Friday in the city of Veria.
Neighbors in the town of Makrohori, in Imathia prefecture, ran to the woman’s residence on Tuesday, after her two other children, six and seven, were heard screaming for help.
An autopsy showed that the infant had been beaten badly, with the worst injury being a cranial wound.
A funeral for the infant took place in a very mournful but also tense service on Wednesday at the town’s main cathedral.
