The 32nd Marine Brigade of the Greek Army took part in a joint military training exercise with USMC 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) conducting Fire Support Coordination (FSCEX)/Support Arms Coordination during the exercise named “Odyssey Encore,” Glafyra, Greece Exercise (SACEX) in the town of Litochoro, located in the Pieria regional unit in Macedonia, northern Greece.
The exercise took place from Monday, February 12th to Friday, February 16th, 2024, as part of the Greece-USA Military Cooperation, conducted in the wider area of Pieria, under the coordination of the Special Operations Command (SOCCOM) of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS).
The training focused on mountain warfare and survival in snowy areas (Cold Weather Training and Tactics) and contributed to the enhancement of combat capability and the improvement of interoperability between the Greek and American Armed Forces.
From the Greek side, personnel and assets from the SOCCOM of the HNDGS participated in the training, while from the American side, personnel and assets from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) took part.
“This activity demonstrates the excellent relationship between Greece and the USA at a military level and the longstanding cooperation between the two countries in the field of Special Operations, contributing to the promotion of security and stability in the wider region”, as per a statement released by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS).
