One more femicide case marred Greek news on Thursday after a 39-year-old man killed his wife with a hammer and informed the police.
The gruesome crime took place in Ambelokipi, central Athens.
The suspect called the police at around 6pm and confessed to murdering his wife. He said he had killed her last Thursday night in their home hitting her with a hammer on the head.
Police rushed to the crime scene where they found the man who told them that he had wrapped his wife’s corpse in a plastic bag and placed it in the attic.
Police said a forensic unit would examine the crime scene. The man was arrested and taken for questioning.
The tragic news comes days after another case of femicide in the village of Angelochori in Thessaloniki, where a 46-year-old man killed his 60-year-old wife last Sunday during a heated argument and injured their 29-year-old son when he tried to intervene.
