On Monday night, Greek Police were alerted of human bones being discovered by firefighters while extinguishing a fire in Amaliada, a town in the western Peloponnese region of Ilia. The fire was said to have broken out in an agroforestry area.

Response teams and personnel from the Ilia Criminal Investigation Department were immediately called to the scene. Initial reports suggest that the bones are unrelated to the fire, while no missing persons have been reported in the area.

The human bones were extracted by Greek Police officers and are expected to be transferred to the Patras Forensic Service for inspection. The incident was first reported by a local news patrisnews, which reported the bones may be moved to Athens if further examination is necessary.
