How Stores Will Operate Today, Christmas Eve Dec. 24

According to Vasilis Korkidis, President of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, "The commercial world's expectation is for this year's festive season to perform better than the equivalent period in 2022. Everyone hopes that this year's turnover will surpass last year's 3.83 billion euros and reach beyond 4 billion euros."

With the festive spirit in full swing on Christmas Eve, the market gears up for the holiday rush, shaping the operational landscape of retail stores.

Throughout the holiday season, commercial establishments are open every day, maintaining extended hours from 9 AM until 9 PM, and on Saturdays from 9 AM until 6 PM.
On today’s date, the 24th, and on the following Sunday, December 31st, stores will have adjusted hours, welcoming customers from 11 AM until 6 PM. However, it’s important to note that stores will remain closed on Monday the 25th, Tuesday the 26th of December, as well as on Monday the 1st, and Tuesday the 2nd of January.

Reflecting on the announcement of the holiday schedule, Stavros Kafounis, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, remarked, “The most significant period for commerce has commenced, with adorned shops in the city center and neighborhoods of Athens. Workers and store owners are eagerly anticipating consumers, offering shelves brimming with products at exceptional prices.”

Sales Expectations

December traditionally stands as the peak month for shopping, often regarded as the pinnacle of annual consumption, thereby generating expectations each year.
