The 24th French-made Rafale fighter plane was received by the Hellenic Air Force (HAF) on Thursday, with the plane landing at the at the Tanagra air base north of Athens.
The development marks the completion of Greece’s order for the 4.5 generation warplane, as an option for six aircraft was activated on the back of an initial contract for 18 planes produced by Dassault.
The new HAF squadron of warplanes is also accompanied by the Meteor air-to-air missile.
Greece is also scheduled to receive US-made F-35 fighter planes in the coming years, while a “Viper” modernization program is underway for the country’s large fleet of F-16s.
