Hot air masses are coming in from Africa and the Central Mediterranean making temperatures even hotter for Greece starting Wednesday through Friday.
Temperatures are expected to peak in mainland Greece, mainly in the western, central and northern regions, on Wednesday and Thursday reaching 43 degrees. Coastal areas are going to be 2 to 4 degrees cooler.
Temperatures are not expected to drop below 27 to 29 degrees during this round of heat wave.
The Greek Ministry of Labor and Social Security has taken emergency safety measures to address the high temps. These include limiting outdoor labor during peak heat hours and calling employees to work from home.
As if the weather could not get any weirder, thunderstorms are expected midday on Saturday mainly in Thrace, Eastern Macedonia, and the eastern parts of Central Macedonia, without significant change in temperature however, as daily highs are expected at 41 degrees.
