One of Greece’s most legendary singers, Marinella, collapsed on Wednesday night while performing on stage at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
Reports in To VIMA indicate that she was urgently transferred to Athens’ Hygeia Hospital, where doctors discovered that she had suffered a severe stroke.
The 86-year-old singer had just begun the concert and was performing her third song when she appeared to faint, and susequently fell to the floor.

The remainder of the concert was canceled.
The Medical Report
Doctors confirmed the brain hemorrhage through an MRI, and Marinella remains in stable, but critical condition.
Reports state that the singer had complained of a severe headache before her performance.

Kyriaki Papadopoulou, known as Marinella, was born in 1938 in Thessaloniki to parents who were refugees from Constantinople. She began exploring singing at the young age of 15 and, to date, has released 66 solo albums.
