Greek police arrested two men from Albania yesterday in connection with the deadly attack on December 15, 2024, in Thrakomakedones, a town in east Attica, where a 47-year-old man (also of Albanian origin) was killed, and another was seriously injured.
During a search of the suspects’ homes, officers discovered a cache that included Kalashnikov rifles, bulletproof vests, silencers, and nearly €80,000 in cash.
The police arrests took place in the neighborhoods of Nea Smyrni in south Athens and Peristeri, a city in western Attica. Law enforcement agents also found firearms, narcotics, and other incriminating evidence.
The suspects are facing charges of organized crime, homicide, forgery, and offenses related to weapons and drugs.
The two perpetrators, aged 42 and 43, approached three individuals who were walking on foot and opened fire on them, resulting in the fatal injury of one and the wounding of the other two. The attackers then fled the scene in a vehicle.
According to Greek police sources, the armed attack against two men in Thrakomakedones appears to be yet another chapter in the ongoing cycle of violence between rival night gangs.
