The Greek Development Ministry has launched an awareness campaign to promote the use of e-katanalotis, an online platform that helps consumers compare supermarket prices and make informed purchasing decisions.
Amid soaring food prices, the ministry emphasized the importance of consumer awareness in maintaining market competition and controlling inflation. “An informed consumer can contribute decisively to price regulation by fostering competition,” the ministry stated.

Originally launched in 2020 and upgraded in 2024, e-katanalotis provides real-time price comparisons across various supermarket goods, offering Greek households a tool to manage their grocery expenses more effectively.
A recent study by the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA) revealed that food prices in Greece have surged by 38.97% over the past 15 years. From 2021 to 2024 alone, food costs rose by 28.50%. Between 2010 and 2023, food prices increased by 34.81%, while disposable income grew by only 14.79% putting increasing financial pressure on Greek households.
The Development Ministry said this week that the campaign to promote e-katanalotis is funded by the National Development Program 2021–2025, aiming to empower consumers with price transparency and alleviate economic strain.
