Temporary traffic restrictions will be in effect this weekend, September 28-29, in the center of Athens for the 16th “Greece Race for the Cure 2024.”

The regulations will kick-in on Saturday at 10:00 p.m., where police will block the flow of traffic in the right two lanes of Vasilissis Amalias Avenue.

From Sunday, a complete traffic stoppage will be enforced on Vassilisis Amalias Avenue along its length and in both directions from 06:45 to 13:00 as follows:

  • Syngrou Avenue, from Athanasiou Diakou Street to Vasilissis Amalias Avenue, in the direction towards Syntagma Square.
  • Vasilissis Olgas Avenue, along its entire length and its intersecting streets.
  • Athanasiou Diakou Street, along its entire length in the direction towards Syngrou Avenue.

There will be gradual traffic stoppages from 08:30 to 13:00 as follows:

  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, from Vasilissis Amalias Avenue to Zacharoff Street in both directions and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.
  • Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue:
    • Along its entire length in the direction towards Arditou Street and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.
    • From Spyros Merkouri Street to Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, in the direction towards Kifisias Avenue, and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.
    • Irodou Attikou Street, along its entire length and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.
    • Vasileos Georgiou B’ Street, along its entire length and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.
    • Meleagrou Street, from Iseodou Street to Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
    • Aravantinou Street, from Iseodou Street to Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
    • Kleanthous Street, from Vasileos Georgiou B’ Street to Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue.
    • Akadimias Street, from Charilaou Trikoupi Street to Vasilissis Sofias Avenue, and its intersecting streets up to the first parallel street.

Vehicles are prohibited from crossing along the event route during the times when sections are closed to traffic, except at the following controlled intersections:

  • Vasilissis Sofias Avenue – Rigillis Street.
  • Vasilissis Konstantinou Avenue – Vasileos Georgiou B’ Street.

The “Greece Race for the Cure” events aim to raise awareness and support breast cancer research and treatment programs.
