Greece welcomed the New Year with its end-of-year annual concert at Syntagma Square in front of the Greek Parliament at midnight.

Amid pleasant mild weather, the Mayor of Athens counted down the clock before a large crowd which enjoyed popular Greek artists including Foivos Delivorias and Natasha Bofilou.

For the first time, the capital is ushered in the New Year with silent fireworks, while the night sky was illuminated by hundreds of drones flying over the city center in a spectacular show dedicated to Athens, our heritage, and the arrival of 2025.

The grand New Year’s Eve event kicked off with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, setting the perfect tone for the festive evening.

Following the performance, the baton was passed on to LaternaTive band for the year’s first big party. Greek radio hosts delivered an electrifying musical set which lasted until the wee hours of the morning.

Against a backdrop of scenes from Greek films, newsreels, and documentaries showcasing Athens through the ages, the “Terrace of Time” also featured a 10-member orchestra comprised of top Greek soloists under the direction and arrangements of Thymios Papadopoulos. The event include dancers and performances by talented young singers.

The 2025 New Year party was accessible to everyone, with simultaneous interpretation into Greek Sign Language provided by interpreter Sofia Roboli.
