Greece’s ‘Santa Clause Basket’ program, which includes discounted goods, kicks off on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and will be in effect until Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. As announced by the Ministry of Development the initiative aims to assist consumers in purchasing items for young children, at more affordable prices, ahead of the Christmas holiday season.
This year, the ‘Santa Clause Basket’ includes additional product categories, such as baby toys, board games/Puzzles, action figures, construction & creative toys, electronic games, dolls, dollhouses, and many more.
Additionally, the ‘Christmas Basket’ is also in effect, with mandatory participation from businesses specializing in selling children’s toys, whose total annual turnover exceeds 1 million euros.
This year, the ‘Christmas Basket’ includes 6 additional product categories essential for the holiday table. Specifically, it includes lamb, goat, and turkey, as well as sweet breads, Vasilopita (Greek New Year’s cake), and chocolate.
Prices for products in this basket are anticipated to be some of the most competitive on the market, with many items priced at or below last year’s levels.
The ‘Christmas Basket’ kicked off on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, and will be running until Jan. 3, 2025. It is a festive version of the ‘Household Basket’ initiative, aiming to limit price increases on essential food items that every household needs for the holiday table.
