A whopping 7 out of 10 Greeks distrust the country’s justice system, according to a report released by Public Issue.
The annual research takes a look at how Greek citizens perceive the country’s institutions and the level of trust they place in them.
Public issue says that trust in the justice system has deteriorated significantly since 2018, at which point a mere 3.3 out of 10 citizens said they didn’t have faith in Greece’s rule of law.
Some of the reasons citizens cited for their trust being shaken include: corruption, wiretapping, organized crime, pedophilia, and police violence.
The annual report covers the period of 2007-2024 and reveals that trust in the justice system was the highest in 2013 where 6.3 out of 10 Greeks viewed the system positively.
