A ferry boat carrying 221 passengers and a crew of 18 on Tuesday afternoon from the southern Evia Island harbor town of Marmari to the port of Rafina, east of Athens proper, had to return to the former after an electrical blackout hampered the vessel as it was sailing in the southern Evoikos Gulf.
The ferry boat “Panorama” returned safely to Marmari, with the passengers subsequently taken by bus to the nearby coastal town of Nea Styra, half an hour to the north. Upon arrival they boarded another ferry boat to the harbor of Aghia Marina, also on the mainland, northeast of Athens.
