Fourteen passengers were arrested aboard a ferry boat initially sailing from the Cyclades island of Tinos to the mainland port of Rafina on Tuesday afternoon after a brawl amongst them broke out.

The fracas caused the vessel’s skipper change course and return to Tinos, where coast guard officers were waiting to board.

According to the coast guard, crew-members of the Super Express ferry boat, which was carrying 717 passengers, first intervened to stop the brawling.

The incident reportedly started after one of the passengers complained to another group of passengers about the loud noise they were making, with the latter taking offense.

Authorities identified 11 of the 14 people detained as belonging to a family of Roma.

After eyewitness reports, coast guard officers later discovered a replica gun apparently flashed by one of the suspects to intimidate others.
