An Athens prosecutor on Wednesday filed felony charges against 10 individuals implicated in a handful of urban terrorist attacks over the recent period.
According reports, six of the suspects were arrested in raids by Greek police’s anti-terrorist unit around the country, while another four individuals are currently incarcerated and serving jail time.
The arrests purportedly stem from attacks claimed by a group identified by anonymous callers as “Revenge Conspiracy”.
Additionally, media reports in Athens have one of the suspects, a career criminal serving a lengthy sentence, as allegedly behind the sending of a letter bomb to a Thessaloniki judge. The explosive device was intercepted before being opened.
Offences listed in an indictment include directing, recruiting and forming a criminal organization; attempted homicide and terror-related explosions.
All 10 suspects are due to face an investigating magistrate to provide initial testimony, should they decide to make statements.
