Evangelismos Metro Station in Athens Temporarily Closed due to Gatherings

Greek police have ordered the temporary shutdown of the “Evangelismos” Metro station, with trains passing through without stopping as they expressed concerns the scheduled protests by anti-authoritarian and anarchist groups might lead to clashes with far-right groups.

Authorities requested the suspension of the station’s operation in the wider area as a demonstration is being held in opposition to a rally originally announced for Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM by extreme right group Golden Dawn and other organizations at the Imia Fallen Memorial in Rigillis Square. However, the Hellenic Police have prohibited that gathering.
