An aircraft flying from London to the city of Chania, Crete made an emergency landing at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens on Friday, July 19, with 223 passengers on board.

According to information from ERT, the aircraft had a problem with its hydraulics system and despite the emergency landing, all passengers onboard are safe.

The flight was reportedly operated by Easyjet, although this has not yet been independently confirmed by the airline itself.

The news comes after a global outage triggered by a Microsoft technical issue on Friday caused widespread disruptions in air travel. The technical issue particularly affected airlines and airports that rely on Microsoft systems.

Athens International Airport is facing delays, although its own systems are operating normally.

The issue with Microsoft and the emergency landing do not appear to be related.
