While the number of accidents increased, the severity of casualties showed mixed trends.

Serious injuries also saw a decline, with 63 reported in 2024 compared to 66 in 2023, representing a 4.5% reduction. However, the number of minor injuries rose significantly, reaching 1,278 in June 2024, a 12.8% increase from the 1,133 recorded in the same month of the previous year.

It is interesting to note that in a recent report by Vignetteswitzerland.com, which analyzed 2022 data from the European Transport Safety Council, Greece ranked 6th in terms of the most dangerous European country to drive in.
