Five people were rushed to the hospital from their hotel in Heraklion, Crete on Friday after being served, and drinking, laundry detergent instead of raki.

The men were rushed to the University General Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI) with severe poisoning and remain in critical condition in intensive care.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred because the detergent was placed, under unknown circumstances, in a bottle of raki.

A sample of the liquid has been sent to the General Chemical State Laboratory for analysis.

According to information from Cretapost.gr, authorities have arrested the hotel manager as investigations are underway to determine how the liquid ended up being accessible to the guests.
