Covid-19-related hospitalizations of patients continued to rise this week in Greece, along with related fatalities.
As a result, public health authorities in Greece urged people in at-risk groups, such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, to maintain preventative measures and seek timely medical attention if symptoms arise.
Specifically, nearly 1,000 people were hospitalized with Covid-19, up from an average of 626 a month ago, and 321 a year ago. Newly intubated patients were 16, while the macabre death toll from viral infection was 38 over one week.
Additionally, health authorities said the number of deaths from the West Nile Virus in the country reached six for the year so far.
On the positive side, flu-like illnesses and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) remain low and no cases of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) have been detected.
