Tuesday marked the culmination of the academic year 2023-24 for middle schools in Greece, as classes come to a close, with only promotional exams now scheduled, while at the same time college entrance exams commence at the end of the week.
As outlined by the Ministry of Education, the middle school promotion and graduation examinations are slated to occur between June 3 and June 17, 2024. Results from these exams are expected to be released no later than June 19.
Notably, internal examinations for senior high school students concluded on Monday. The focus now shifts to the commencement of the nationwide tertiary level entrance exams, beginning on Thursday for vocational high school seniors, and on Friday for graduating seniors of general high schools. The first subject for the college entrance exams is modern Greek language and literature.
Promotion examinations for 10th and 11th grade high school pupils will conclude by June 14, 2024.
Primary schools and kindergartens will also conclude their academic year this month, and specifically on Friday, June 14.
Meanwhile, in a related development, pupils at several secondary schools around the country successfully participated in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), despite the standing opposition from Greek educators’ unions.
