Weather: Cold Air Mass Heading to Greece- Temps to Drop to 20°C

Greece's unseasonably warm and dry weather will change from Thursday, where temperatures are expected to dip below seasonal levels.

If you are not a fan of the cold, then enjoy the next few days because the weather in Greece is set to change on Thursday as a cold air mass will force temperatures below seasonal norms.

Up until the arrival of the cold weather, Greece will be warm and dry, which has even put some regions of the country at a risk for fires, according to statements by Greece’s civil protection authority.

Cold Mass of Air from Eastern Europe

Today, Monday, October 14th, temperatures will be higher than normal for this time of year, reaching 28°C in Attica and 26°C in Thessaloniki.

From Thursday, however, a cold air mass from Eastern Europe will hit Greece and lower temperatures to 20-23°C.

Greece will start the week with mostly clear skies and scattered clouds, according to the country’s national weather service (EMY). Winds will blow from the north at 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, and locally 6 in the eastern Aegean.

The temperature will reach 23-25°C in the north and 25-28°C in other areas.

  • Winds: Northerly-northeasterly at 3 to 4 and locally 5 on the Beaufort scale in the east.

  • Winds: Light and variable.
  • Temperature: From 14 to 24°C.
