The cities of Paris, Vienna and Geneva remain the top picks for Greek travelers for the Christmas holiday period, according to data by the country’s flag carrier Aegean Airlines.

The data shows that the Greeks’ zeal for travel has not diminished as demand for travel abroad continues unabated.

Over 145 itineraries to 100 destinations are reporting high booking capacity rates reaching up to 80% only 10 days before Christmas.

Demand for the festive period saw an uptick compared to 2023, prompting Aegean Airlines to raise its available seats for both domestic and international flights by 5%.

Apart from the traditional hotspots like Vienna, Paris, and London, perennial favorites among Greek Christmas travelers, there is a noticeable rise in interest for less conventional but distinctly wintry destinations, such as Krakow, Helsinki, and Oslo.

Bookings through travel agencies confirm that European capitals continue to dominate Greek travelers’ preferences. Alongside Vienna, Paris, and London, destinations like Switzerland and major German cities hold strong appeal.

There is also growing enthusiasm for far-flung destinations such as Vietnam, Japan, Cuba, and Brazil, highlighting a desire for more exotic experiences during the holiday season.

Last-Minute Opportunities: For those seeking spontaneous getaways, attractive deals are still available for destinations like Istanbul, Naples, Rome, and Amsterdam from Athens, as well as Milan, Brussels, and Amsterdam from Thessaloniki.

The mix of traditional and emerging preferences among Greek travelers underlines the diversity of choices this festive season. Whether seeking the charm of a snow-covered European capital or the allure of a distant adventure, Greeks are eager to explore, reaffirming their passion for travel during the holidays.
