A bomb exploded outside of an event venue overnight in the southern Athens suburbs.
According to reports at OPEN TV, the explosion occurred just after midnight at the Aghia Marina site, in Koropi municipality, on Athens-Sounion Avenue.
Before the explosion, unknown persons were seen approaching the area and placing an item on a bench.
Shortly after, a loud blast was heard and the explosion reportedly caused damage to the fence of the event venue and to the glass windows of nearby stores.
Upon investigating the scene, police found remnants of a slow-burning fuse and bomb detonator, according to reports.
Authorities collected security camera footage in search of the perpetrators.
