The body of a 20-year-old South African man was discovered on Friday off the harbor of Sami, on the Ionian Sea island of Cephalonia (Kefalonia).
The man, identified only as Benjamin, had been reported missing on Thursday afternoon after jumping off a catamaran where he worked for a swim, close to the area he was found a day later.
Benjamin’s mother took to social media to ask for help, posting “All Search and Rescue teams have worked around the clock to find him. PLEASE share this post to everyone you know to Identify him. He works on a Yacht. He went for a dive and never returned. ”
The coast guard, private vessels as well as a helicopter searched the surrounding area and extended their search to a neighboring region, until the body was ultimately discovered by a civilian diver.
